Bridging the Gap
(click to enlarge)Location: Weinheim. Construction work for the "New Castle Quarters" on the former location of a hospital, beneath one of Weinheim's twin castles.
Note: This construction site is essentially in a valley between the hill with Weinheim's old town and the hill with the castle. The funky thing is that the "New Castle Quarters" will include a bridge from the old town across to the buildings there and then another bridge to the castle hill, directly connecting the pedestrian zone downtown with the path to the castle. The "New Castle Quarters" will include parking decks, supermarkets, a senior citizen home and apartment sections on multiple levels.

(click to enlarge)Location: Mannheim. Installations like this are spread throughout the entire downtown area, sometimes smaller groups of just two or three pink bikes, sometimes big lumps like this.
