it's sitting in the frontyard of Heidelberg's uhhh... Ethnological Museum.

Actually rather nice inside too, they focus on the indigenous cultures (former German colony) Papua-New Guinea somewhat. Or they did when i was in there the last time 15 years ago ^^;;

They got the Buddha Shakayumi from Thailand 10 years ago, and it's been sitting there since then. The house the museum is in since 1919 has some special relationship with Thailand, as the Thai king was a houseguest in 1907.
There are actually people regularly using the statue to pray or offer somthing. The flower necklace in the pic is one such anonymous offer for example. He actually has pretty few things in the pic compared to other times ^^;
