Looking into the Crater

... except you can't really see it since it's 15 miles wide.

Crater is the Nördlinger Ries, created by a meteorite impact 15 million years ago. Town in the background is Nördlingen. Standing on Goldberg mountain, a small hill thrown up by the impact on the edge of the crater.

In the year 2743 after Rome's Founding, the leaders of this town reconstructed this Back Gate from its foundations.

AUC 2743 is AD 1990, if you're not clear about that.
